Faster Tempo Runs
I've set a goal to run faster.
I have worked at tempo runs. I do a mile or so at a comfortable warm up pace then I run a faster tempo. It is tiring but it is working for me. I ran my first training 10k at less than 59 minutes. I also ran my fastest mile ever (at least since my Army days as a teenager)!
I may not always appreciate training, but I do appreciate the results!

Running faster makes you run faster! I always tell my people that. That's impressive you brought a training 10K under an hour. That shows you're working hard.
I can't rememnber what I could run a mile at as a teenager. I don't think I want to know. I suspect it might have been under six minutes (although not by much). Now, after much training, my best time is 6:23 on a track in a race. Alas, not only youth is wasted on the young, but all that speed also.
Tempo Charlie! Your new name!
Go Charlie! Burn up those tracks!
Charlie, you are such an inspiration. You certainly provoke me to do more and produce better. Thanks.
Great work on that 10k! Wow, under 1 hour is great.
Tempo runs are my favorite workout for getting faster. Keep it up! Excellent at getting your 10k under an hour, good work!
