Chicago Marathon - Reservations are Nearly Full
I got an e-mail this morning from the Chicago Marathon people (newsletter@chicagomarathon.com). This is a quote from the newsletter:
"Registration for the 2008 Bank of America Chicago Marathon is rapidly approaching its 45,000 participant capacity. Only a few thousand open entries are still available. If you are interested in participating in the 2008 event, we encourage you to register now before the field is full. To register, visit chicagomarathon.com."
"Once open registration is closed, entry into the 2008 race can still be obtained through our official charity partners or affiliated international tour groups. For more information on these options, visit chicagomarathon.com."
Planning on attending? Time might be at hand to monitor whether you can register and join a great group of bloggers as we go to Chicago with some of us competing in this competition!

I'm running Chicago!!! Last year was my first attempt, and although I finished the marathon (I was at mile 21 when they closed the course and walked to the finish), I'm going back this year to RUN to the finish line!!!! I'll have my Mom and Aunt from Ohio to cheer me on, as well as my Aunt from the Chicago area.
Based on my knee problems, I think I may need to sit this one out. I'm not confident that I'll be up and running before it hits the max.
Hmm.. I need to find out what my teaching schedule may be for Fall. Thats really what I am waiting on. Worst case I may have to get on Ebay to get a number.
It is official: I will only be cheering at Chicago this year.
How very cool!
Thanks for your comments on my blog. You always have wonderfully encouraging words for me..
Nice of you to alert runners that Chicago is about to close out. Last year I let one day too many go by before registering and then had to do a charity in order to do their 26.1 mile fun run. It's reputed to be a great course and marathon. The course, from what I saw, would be ok if Chicago's finest hadn't waded into it to tell runners to walk or they'd be charged with a felony (o please!) and the spectators were fabulous. I'm going to refrain from commenting on the race directors.
I so wish I could be there but will have just returned from another week-long trip during which I've run two marathons. I will be rooting for everyone from Orlando and looking forward to all the race reports!!
Exciting to be planning to do the Chicago Marathon!! (Wishing we could try again this year!)
Certainly, some things will really shape up after last year's fun run.. and how can the weather be exactly that hot??
And so, you have an early morning flicker for an alarm clock?!
OMG - you won't miss me with 44,999 runners around you! That's a huge crowd! Enjoy - and be thankful u planned early!
I have several open spots available for Charity Runners in the 2008 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Our organization is an official charity registered with the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. We are looking for runners to join our team who are passionate not only about running, but also about helping the word's poor help themselves. Our approach is to provide micro-financing and business training to individual entrepreneurs in the developing world-- thereby enabling them to create sustainable income for their families and build their communities. We call it "enterprise relief". You can check us out at www.gba.org. Consider joining our Sudan Challenge. Availability ends soon. Thanks for your consideration and help!
